Shopping Your Closet

Leah Van Loon and Leah Sarich on BTCalgary

The biggest investment you have already made is hanging in your closet. Not wearing clothes you already have means any money you spent is not getting spent well. A good investment is an item you can get a lot of wear out of. Something that is versatile, non-seasonal and a classic style means you can wear it more often.. Cost-per-wear can actually start to mean something! After all, the most sustainable clothing is the clothing that already exists.

Shopping your closet really means cleaning it up and recognizing what you have and what you might be missing. Before you even decide to go shopping, it's a good idea to figure out what you actually need so you aren’t wasting your money. It also means you aren’t buying it just to have it be given to charity who, let’s face it, don’t need any more clothing to dump off in African countries.

So on that note here a few of my tips for how to buy non seasonally and while still being thoughtful about your purchasing and your trends.
